1.        Manusia

Ø  Manusia adalah hewan yang berbudaya. (Hewan beradaptasi secara biologis, manusia beradaptasi secara kultural)

v   Tujuan pembinaan mahasiswa adalah mengembangkan individu dan kelompok menjadi pribadi dan anggota masyarakat yang memiliki sifat mampu sebagai penerus dan calon pemimpin bangsa

v   Manusia secara hakiki adalah makhluk sosial. Setiap individu selalu memperoleh dan memberi kepada masyarakat

v   Pengembangan kepribadian hendaknya selalu memperhatikan tatanilai yang dianut oleh masyarakat

Dinamika kepribadian terjadi karena berbagai sumber tegangan dapat berasal dari proses pertumbuhan fisiologis, frustasi, konflik, dan ancaman

v   Kalau seseorang dihadapkan kepada sumber tegangan maka dalam dirinya akan timbul rasa tidak aman, tidak enak (tegangan). Individu tidak tinggal diam, tetapi akan berusaha untuk mengurangi atau menghilangkan tegangan dengan berbagai cara, antara lain :




a)         Identifikasi
b)        Penggantian obyek
c)         Proyeksi
d)        Fiksasi
e)         Regresi
f)          Rasionalisasi
g)        Transkulpasi

Maslov menjelaskan bahwa pribadi seseorang yang dianggap sehat yaitu yang memiliki sifat-sifat sebagai berikut :
a)         Ia mampu melihat secara jelas, tidak melihat kehidupan sebagaimana diinginkan dan tidak begitu emosional.

b)        Memiliki pandangan yang lebih jelas mengenai apa yang benar dan apa yang salah, selanjutnya dapat meramalkan masa depan.

c)         Memiliki kerendahan hati yang memberinya kemampuan untuk mendengarkan orang lain, tanpa idea telah terbentuk terlebih dahulu atau pertanggapan.

d)        Persepsinya tidak begitu dipalsukan oleh kecemasan, ketakutan, harapan-harapan, atau optimism yang palsu. Mengenali keadaan sebagaimana adanya, kesadaran tanpa keinginan. Hal ini memungkinkan adanya toleransi yang besar.

e)         Ia mengabdi kepada pekerjaan, tugas, dan jabatan.

f)          Ia kreatif dan fleksibel, spontan, berani dan terbuka. Semua orang mampu melakukan kreatifitas yang lebih baik dari apa yang ia kerjakan. Seorang genius dilahirkan dengan bakat kreatifitas yang lebih besar.

g)        Ia mengalami konflik diri dalam derajat yang lebih ringan, hingga kekacauan untuk melihat mana yang benar dan mana yang salah, mana yang baik dan mana yang buruk tidak terlalu berat.

h)        Ia seorang yang egois untuk orang lain atau dengan kata lain ia dapat memperoleh rasa senang ketika dapat menolong orang lain.
i)           Ia memiliki respek yang sehat untuk diri sendiri, yang didasarkan atas pengetahuan bahwa dirinya adalah mampu unruk melakukan sesuatu.

j)           Ia bebas dari pengaruh orang lain, tetapi sekaligus dapat menyukai orang lain.

k)        Ia memiliki kebebasan psikologik

l)           Ia memiliki kecenderungan untuk mengalami pengalaman puncak atau pengalaman mistik, suatu ciri dari manusia yang telah mengaktualisasi diri. Kira-kira merupakan pengalaman religius, adanya integrasi antara subyektif dengan obyektif, antara yang ilmiah dan yang religius dan mistik.

Dalam menghadapi kenyataan hidup, sering individu dihadapkan kepada situasi yang penuh dengan pertentangan hingga tidak sempat melihat dan menerima secara realistis tentang kesulitan yang ada. Akibatnya dapat mengalami perasaan-perasaan sebagai berikut:
a)         Adanya perasaan tidak mampu, sehingga mengganggu cara berfikir. Semua hal dirasakan mencemaskan dan mengancam.

b)        Ada kecenderungan selalu menghindari hal-hal yang menimbulkan stress sehingga sifatnya defensif dan tidak berani menghadapi kesulitan dan takut bertanggung jawab.

c)         Tidak memiliki pandangan yang obyektif terhadap sesuatu kesukaran, karena sifat pribadinya yang kaku, kurang mampu melihat kemungkinan yang lain yang sekiranya lebih cocok dan dapat dilakukan.

d)        Sifatnya egosentris yang dapat menghambat hubungan antara yang baik dengan orang lain.

e)         Merasa bersalah setiap kali gagal menghadapi kesulitan, sehingga selalu merasa tidak puas dan tidak senang.




3.        Pengendalian Diri

Manusia diciptakan dalam bentuk yang paling baik (paduan ruhani-jasmani), tetapi martabatnya dapat turun merosot sangat rendah (Q.S Attien     4 – 5), kecuali mereka yang memiliki pribadi yang kuat dan berprilaku yang baik (taqwa).
Akhlakul karimah itu sifat asli (jatidiri) manusia. Pada perjalanan hidup manusia dihadapkan kepada berbagai permasalahan yang dapat merubah sifat asli manusia, sebagai hasil interaksi antara motivasi, penalaran dan tindakan, berkaitan dengan adanya tantangan dan hambatan untuk mencapai apa yang dicita-citakan.
Ada dua kelompok sifat yang perlu diperhatikan (yang tercela dan terpuji).
a)         Sifat-sifat tercela harus dihindari antara lain :
1)                 Iri hati
2)                 Dengki
3)                 Sombong
4)                 Membanggakan harga diri
5)                 Pemarah
6)                 Riya
7)                 Kikir
8)                 Nafsu ingin terhormat dan terkenal
9)                 Menjelekan teman
10)          Adu domba
11)          Malas
12)          Suka berdusta
13)          Pembual

b)        Sifat-sifat yang terpuji yang harus kita miliki antara lain :
1)            Pemaaf (taubat)
2)            Hati-hati 
3)            Sederhana
4)            Sabar
5)            Syukur
6)            Ikhlas (rela)
7)            Tawakal
8)            Disiplin
9)            Rindu Tuhan
